Popular Christmas melodies delight us both in our festively decorated homes and also on the silver screen. Christmas-themed movies often strike a sure and deep chord and can then become a “classic” film. For example, the romantic comedy Bridget Jones’s Diary and Ben Hur cast their spell on each new generation. Or the film score accompanying the magical events between platform nine and three quarters and Hogwarts … What must never be left out is: Irving Berlin’s White Christmas!
Since 2002, the versatile English conductor Gavin Sutherland has led the Munich Radio Orchestra in performances of cinematic film scores with a connoisseur’s extensive insight. Currently the Music Director and Principal Conductor of the English National Ballet, he is at home in many genres, is an accomplished pianist, and has composed a musical as well as ballet and symphonic music. He also conducts and arranges film music.
